Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have Terms of Service that I should be aware of?

Yes, Sel et Sucre Advanced Aesthetics outlines its terms of service in a document that you can find here.  We ask that all clients read and acknowledge our Terms of Service prior to arriving at the studio.

What is the purpose of a facial?

Facials are more about maintaining the heath of your skin rather than just luxurious pampering. They help to address many concerns and symptoms often caused by reactive, sensitive and maturing skin. Regular facials can drastically improve conditions such as acne, rosacea, dry and dehydrated skin. They are a great preventative treatment to help beat wrinkles before they occur and soften already existing ones.

Why do I need a professional esthetician?

Having an esthetician who is certified to work with specialized treatments and in selecting products that meet your needs is paramount to seeing improvements in your skin’s health. They will be equipped with knowledge to help guide you through the treatments that are best suited for you and with selecting optimal skin care for use at home which will maintain the results you are seeing from professional treatments.

How often should I get a facial?
In order to maintain results and monitor any changes in the skin which may require altering your skin care routine, it is recommended to get a facial every 4-6 weeks. However, we can discuss your concerns, your needs, and your desired outcome and schedule your treatments based on a personalized plan which is tailored specifically for you.

How do I prepare for my appointment?
It is best to come to your appointment with clean skin and plan to arrive no earlier then 15 mins before to allow you time to fill out forms, use the restroom if needed, and get settled for your treatment. If you are using active ingredients in your skin care routine, such as Retin-A or vitamin A, it is best to stop using it 3-7 days prior to your treatment to reduce the possibility of skin sensitivities which can lead to skin irritation and redness.

Why is it necessary to fill out client forms and health questionnaire?
It is important to share information about your self such as any health concerns, current medications you are taking, if you are being treated by a doctor, your previous and current skin care treatments and use of skin care products. This information is used to determine if you are a good candidate for a treatment and the best method to provide it to you as safely as possible. Some health conditions can have serious risks and side effects which may greatly affect the outcome of your treatment and other health conditions may make you contraindicated meaning you may not be able to receive a treatment at all.

Can I still come to my appointment if I don’t feel well?
It is best to reschedule your appointment for a time that you are well to obtain optimal benefits from your treatment. This not only prevents the possible spread of illness but also protects you from overwhelming your immune system.

What can I expect after a professional facial treatment?
It is important to stay well hydrated for the first 24-48 hours after your facial treatment. This aids in eliminating toxins from the body. You should always use SPF protection but particularly after a facial treatment which often includes a good exfoliation of the skin potentially leaving you more vulnerable to photodamage. To get maximum benefit from the products, it is best to leave them on the skin after the treatment. Finally, it is always a great idea to book your treatment on a day that you can rest, relax and enjoy. You deserve it!
